What is Reconnect West?

Reconnect West is a program that provides support and assistance to young people and their families in the Wyndham and Hobsons Bay areas.

Reconnect West assists young people aged between 12 - 18 years, who are having difficulty staying at home, or who have been out of home for a short time.

Community education and training, conflict resolution and mediation is also provided.
 

The Aim of Reconnect West

The service aims to provide assistance before family relationships reach a crisis, but will also help if things get past this stage. We aim to strengthen family relationships and help young people maintain links with schools, employment, training and the community.
 

How do we help?

Reconnect West will help young people and their families, by providing Mediation and Counselling Services. We can meet young people and their families at our offices, school, home and other locations. After hour appointments are offered.

Reconnect aims to continuously improve through research and feedback, so that families receive the best service possible.

Mediation Service

What is Mediation?

Mediation is a process that helps family members in conflict to come together, sit down and talk about the issues, and reach an agreement that all parties are happy with. The mediators do not take sides and the process is confidential.

We also provide conflict resolution workshops and peer mediation in schools, and mediation in-training for professionals. The Mediation Service is delivered by Werribee Support and Housing Group.

Counselling Service

Reconnect West provides a counselling service for young people and their families. This is aimed at assisting young people who are having difficulty living at home or who have left home recently. Counselling can involve individuals or a number of family members. Counselling sessions are non-pressured and confidential.

Critical Linkages

The critical linkages worker can visit you to discuss your needs, and how we may be able to meet them, or to help you identify young people who may be in need of our service.

The worker will also be involved in receiving feedback. They will be based at the Altona office of Baywest Youth Housing Group.
